Amazon.com has several books. I’ve worked in medical billing for almost 2 years and just recently purchased a book that is actualy a textbook. It is called Medical Billing and Coding. It comes with a CD and gives you a breakdown of full cycle billing. It’s great and extremely useful. I’d highly recommend it for someone entering into the medical billing field. Some better books would be available on the AMA website. To take the Medical Coding test to become certified you had to have worked as a coder for atleast 1 year (actually it may be two but I know its atleast one). Medical coding pays more. Medical billing pays less but you do not HAVE to be ceritifed to get a job as a medical biller. None of my medical biller coworkers are ceritified all of them are pheneomenal billers.
