We had a user meeting today and medisoft medical billing software version 14 was the featured guest. We showed the new features off to existing customers and they really liked the dashboard and patient quick entry and global period features. We encourage you to visit our medisoft medical billing software website at www.medicalbillingsoftware.com/medisoft-software.htm

medisoft medical billing software version 14 update

Posted in medisoft, medisoft version 14  by admin | February 13th, 2008

Medisoft medical billing software version 14 is still in beta testing. We’re getting some wonderful feedback from beta testers about the sexxy new “toy” called the Administrative Dashboard. The dashboard is a program that can run seperately from medisoft and gives you a snapshot and overview of key performance indicators. The dashboard consists of four categories;

1- logged in user list (lists all the users that medisoft recognizes as logged in)

2- totals — these are amounts or dollars representing things like total appointments; total AR; total claims, etc;

3- trending — these consists of graphs showing things such as a trend in # of appointments seen

4- warnings — consists of “rules” you setup for warnings if certain dollar amounts, such as total AR are above or below a certain dollar amount.

You can setup multiple different “profiles” for your dashboard so that the doctor can view certain information that he\she wants; the billing person can have their own profile, and the practice manager can view their own information in the dashboard.

Please post any questions you may have about the dashboard.

medical billing software maker Medisoft version 14 adds UB04 printing and print to file

Posted in medisoft version 14  by admin | February 5th, 2008

Medical Billing Software maker Medisoft has finally got it right, its finally added UBO4 functionality to its popular billing program features. Medisoft version 14 adds the ability to add the FL fields for billing on the UB04 form. Medisoft does this by adding a new button in what is called the “CASE” portion of the patient setup. The feature is turned on or ‘enabled” by clicking on FILE, the PROGRAM OPTIONS, DATA ENTRY tab, then UNCHECK the SUPRESS UB04 fields (unchecking this box means you WANT to enable the feature).

Now, when you choose a patient, and add or edit a case, you’ll see the UB04 button on the right hand side of the screen, below the SAVE, CANCEL, and HELP buttons and before the Eligibility and Face Sheet buttons. When you click on this button, you’ll see a screen with two tabs. Enter the relevant information for each field that requires input.

HOT TIP– One of the other new features in this version of Medisoft is the “Patient Quick Entry”. This quick entry feature allows you to custom design a data input screen for all fields needed for billing this patient – things like demographics, referring provider, accident related info, insurance policy, etc. You can custom design the data input forms for only the data fields you know are required for billing. You can also create and save different “quick entry” templates for different types of patients. Create a “patient quick entry” screen for your claims that will be sent on the UB04 form! The quick entry screen only has the fields you want, and prevents the “deer in headlight” syndrome new users have when entering data into medisoft (most users look the different screens and have to stop and “think” if they need to put information there, or else they keep hunting and looking for that one field of information, but they “forgot” where it is). Now, just one screen containing ALL the fields you determine you want for data entry. You can always go back and modify the template, AND you can always go specifically to the case and enter information there after the fact.

Ok, after all the patient information is entered, and the transactions are entered, save the transactions and go to “claims management” and create claims, and then “print” to the UB04 form. To print to a “print image” or “text” print of the UB04 claim file, setup an “EMC Receiver” (go to LISTS on the menu, choose EDI RECEIVERS), and setup a receiver with the program file ubfile.exe. Then you follow the steps for sending electronic claims and the output will be the “print image” of the UB04 claim form.

While Medisoft doesn’t create the ANSI file for sending claims electronically (they will add this functionality next year in version 15), most clearinghouses will accept the UB04 print image file (they will do the “mapping” on their end to put it in the ANSI format).

There you have it, a terriffic new feature in medisoft medical billing software version 14.
