Is anyone familiar with medical billing out of the home?

Posted in Health Care  by admin | June 26th, 2009

sad0574 asked:

I am considering taking on a doctor to do her medical billing out of my home. I have never done this out of my home before, so I am not sure how the compensation works as far as should I expect hourly pay, salary, or a percentage of receivables. If a percentage, what would be an acceptable percentage around the Las Vegas NV area? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
What I mean by out of my home is doing her medical billing on my personal computer in my home rather than working out of her office. I already have a full-time job so this would be part-time evening hours in my home.

Electronic Billing Software Improves Workflow In Medical Care

Posted in Business and Management  by admin | June 17th, 2009

With ever-increasing medical care needed, doctors offices are busier than ever before. In this day and age, having electronic billing software is crucial to running a smooth operation in a clinic or hospital. If you’re setting up a practice that is used or, in the process of upgrading the system, it must be considered. Medical billing software has helped in reducing a lot of burden that is faced with an increased patient load.

Keeping patient care moving in a timely and efficient manner is something a clinic tries to achieve on a daily basis. In order to see a large number of patients every day in a timely manner, there must be an efficient use of time allotted. This is where medical billing software shines. When the electronic payment service is good, using the very best is expected from the service. Being able to input information into the system saves a lot of time and by using a system that has error detectors you will not have to go all the way back to find a mistake.

Electronic billing should be chosen from a standpoint of being easy to learn. Long, complicated processes are going to defeat the purpose for which the software is meant. When implemented correctly, medical billing software has many benefits.

The electronic billing system that you select should come with discounted upgrades for future purchases. This is how legitimate software companies operate in general. If you upgrade to a newer version, you should have credits for the purchase of the new system.

When using the system that is right for your needs, you will have a staff that is more in tune with the patients rather than worrying over whether they got something right or not. One of the things you definitely want to think about when considering this change is to choose a service that can explain the whole electronic medical billing software operation. Your staff will need to be educated on how the system works in order to incorporate it into their working processes.

Once you change from the old way of billing to a new system you will be glad you did. There are many medical offices using the electronic billing systems today. They seem to be quite pleased with the ease of use, the setup for insurance billing and the whole system in general. The only way you will know if this is for your office, is to give it a try.

If this is a step you have been considering, one way you may find a legitimate company is to ask other doctors and professional medical people yourself. Find out if they have gone the way of electronic billing and if so, who the company is that they are using. If other doctors or medical professionals that you know have utilized medical billing software, then you can find out what they use and how well it works. This may be the easiest way for you to find out if they are pleased with the company from which they got their system.
